Movie Review- The Live-Action Version of 'Cinderella'!

As a girl who has always had a deep love of Disney films and morals, I just knew I had to see the live action remake of one of my favourite classic Disney films, Cinderella.

The plot of the this version is slightly different than that of the original mainly in the way that our two heroes meet, Ella (Lily James) and the Prince (Richard Madden) meet when they are both out in the forest. It seems that this meeting has a lasting impression on our Prince as he endeavours to see the 'Mystery Princess' again. The casting is amazing in this film as you can see that Lily James and Richard Madden have such chemistry when on screen together which is so important when telling a story like this.
I personally believe that Cinderella both the animated and live action versions are amazing to show to people of all ages. This is down to the message that this story sends which is to 'Have Courage and Be Kind!' I think that this is so important because kindness is such an amazing thing and can lift someone's mood instantly. With all the darkness in our world in this day in age, wouldn't it be good to spread some happiness? Cinderella in this movie, though kind will not let that kindness be mistaken for weakness and stands up to her Step-Mother in the moments she needs too!

There is one scene in particular that catches everyone's attention when they see it, and that is when Cinderella walks into the ball and the first dance between our two love birds. The people who worked on this scene down to the little details should give themselves a pat on the back as this scene is so visually stunning. The moment when the first dance starts everyone holds their breath and beautiful choreography ensues.

The soundtrack of this movie is matched beautifully to the story, it is tender and sweet and if you close your eyes you almost feel as if you're there in each part of the story with the characters.

My Top Five Songs off the Soundtrack are (In no particular order) ;

  • Who Is She?-This is the music played as Cinderella walks into the Ball.
  • Strong by Sonna Rele- This is played in the credits and in my opinion sums the movie up perfectly
  • Lavender's Blue by Lily James- This is not in the official soundtrack however this song plays a massive part in the film and adds an innocent feel to the film as this is a lullaby.
  • La Valse De L'Amour- This is the music played for the first dance and is absolutely beautiful, I love it!
  • A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes by Lily James- This song holds such a special place in my heart and Lily James' rendition of it is simply amazing!
No matter what age you are I suggest you watch this movie, even if it just for the amazing dress that Cinderella wears at the ball!

I'd give it 9/10 stars!!

Have you seen this film?? What did you think about it??

Lauren Says...Dream Big!

When you are little you are always asked, 'What do you want to do when you are older?' and kids say I want to be a Disney Princess or a Unicorn. When you get older they ask again and your answers mature as you do. They now say Doctor or Police Officer. I've always been fuzzy on what I want to spend my life doing, I like to sing and act but I also like to write and do all matter of other things that fit into many other professions. Wouldn't it be amazing it someone could chart your career and all you have to do is agree?

I've wanted to be a chef, an author, a lawyer and a performer to name a few and you shouldn't limit yourself. Maybe I will be two of these things in my lifetime? My love of acting and singing has been a love for years now, whether I'm good enough to make it to the West End is another question but if I did ever make it there, I would love to play;

  • Eponine (Les Mis)
  • Sophie (Mamma Mia)
  • Cosette (Les Mis)
  • Elphaba (Wicked)
  • Glinda (Wicked)
Singing is a hobby of mine that I only now have been expressing a little louder as I have been too self conscious up to this point.

I have decided that if I find it fun then I should do it whether I'm the next West End star or not.

What are your dreams for the future??

Lauren Says...Don't Worry About Boys!

Boys are the one thing that when you are alone with your closest friends you talk about, it's like girls have been wired to think this way. Recently, I've realised that although they can make you feel special, beautiful and appreciated, boys are not in charge nor should they be at the forefront of our decisions. 'Oh I won't wear this outfit because this person won't like it!' 'I can't revise for that rather important exam of mine because he might text me/already is talking to me and my concentration needs to be there!' NO! This is not what should be happening, don't let boys make your decisions for you!

I am not saying that they are not important and that you are silly if you are with one now, I am just putting my opinion out there that you are worth more than what one guy thinks about you! They may be sweet and chivalrous but don't let all that cloud your judgement at the end of the day if he wants to be with you, he will have no issue with you concentrating on school, an exam or even your wildest dreams. If he cares for you, he will do whatever he can to make your life easier around stressful times, not add stress himself.

Having someone in your life can be great! Like I've said they can make you feel special and like you are the most beautiful girl in the world but before you enter into a relationship you need to love yourself. You need to see how amazing you are otherwise how is anybody going to love you.

Don't settle for someone who is 'okay'! You have one life so live it and find the one person who will love and respect you as much as you them. I believe in 'The One', you know the one person who knows you better than you know yourself, who is there when you need a laugh or a shoulder to cry on. I do hope to find that person but then again I am not going to rush through life on a constant search. If it is meant to happen, it will happen.

Lauren Says...Enjoy Time With Friends!!

Today I went out with my friends to properly celebrate a birthday in our group. It included the usual sneaking to Asda to get a cake for her and give it to Nando's as we were heading there later in the afternoon for late lunch, more info on that later! And everything that happened taught me a lesson and that was value the friends you have now because you never know what might happen or where they may go.

We all went to the cinema to see 'The Wedding Ringer', and I'll be honest I went into the film not expecting much but I have to say this film was hilarious! I have to warn you though this film is rated a 15 for a reason, there is a huge amount of swearing, drug use and sexual references so make sure you are of age to see this film. The film stars Kevin Hart, a hugely funny guy who really takes this film to the next level. Also, this film has Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting from sensational show, The Big Bang Theory, This just made this film better to me! However, like I said before if you are below the age of 15/16 or are easily offended take caution when deciding whether or not to see this film. I would give this film a strong four out of five!

For anyone I know, Nando's is their favourite restaurant! This is the same for me! I'm a medium spice girl and can have that with a chicken burger or wrap with mashed potato which is one of the best things Nando's does! Anyway, during this time I had to sit back and say to myself enjoy this time now, don't fret about the future or who isn't there and I found myself reconnecting with a couple of people that I hadn't been close to for a while which really was my favourite part of the day (except the food!)

What have you seen in the cinema recently??
Have you learnt any lessons??

Lauren Says..Today is Going to be an Amazing Day!

Such a small sentence can change how your day goes. Whether you wake up in the morning and think today is going to be a great day! Or the alternative of Oh today is going to be so terrible! Deciding which one to believe can set out your days plan. By saying that you aren't opening yourself up to the possibility of you having an amazing day filled with fun moments and great people. You may have exams to do or work to attend or you may even just be pottering around the house all day and you may have set certain tasks for you to do. If you start your day not even fully awake with a terrible attitude, you will find that it is harder to be happy and productive for the rest of the day. Some of the things I dread doing turn out to be ridiculously fun and exciting, and you think everyone not just myself would have learnt by now that if you think something is going to be boring and a waste of your time. Do it anyway because it may just be the best thing you've ever done!

This has been a recent discovery for me as a couple of weeks ago I had to be dragged out of bed to get ready for school, bear in mind I am in the last year of high school so every day is deemed important, and I just would not get up in a happy mood. Until I decided that enough was enough and I needed to start being as happy at the start of the day as I was at the end. This is where the point of this post comes in, I challenge you to wake up tomorrow morning with a smile on your face and I also challenge you to say that tomorrow is gonna be amazing because if you don't believe it, it will not happen. One day can change the rest of your life!
